Dragontooth Metal

There have been found weapons made of an ivory like substance that are determined to be harder and lighter than steel. These weapons appear to conform ato all of the rules of ivory except that they are able to take and hold ultrafine edges. When subjected to massive amounts of burning, scraping and grinding the weapons have been shown to contain elements of metals intertwined within the Ivory. Upon further testing the material seems to be comprised of aluminum, steel and a form of calcium, though traditional methods of dissolving this calcium substance have proven ineffective. The strongest acids available to the alchemists were deployed during tests and took considerable time to work. In order to break one of the spears for the test the testers placed the shaft inside of a concrete hole fit exactly to the spears diameter, attached a chain to it and had 4 ogres pull the chain through pullies anchored into a wall. The concrete and the wall showed cracks before the spear broke.

The weapons were found in the northern Steelspine mountains by a dwarven siege suit party. A group of orcs used them against the siege suits but were defeated by superior artillery. The 5 weapons which were found were used by an Orc leader who was a pureblooded variety. They bore strange markings in a script which bears a strong similarity to ancient elvish languages. The scrollwork and sybmols placed upon the spear, swords and axes had a strong dragon theme. The material was named Dragontooth because of the dragon markings, the calcium content and the slightly curved shape of the pieces found. Current theories suggest that the weapons considered to be Dragontooth metal are just that; Dragons teeth that have been fused with a metallic element. No one is sure where this comes from, but it seems the weapons are ancient and are of incredibly high quality. It is evident that the weapons did not originate with the Orcs they were taken from.

Other weapons of the same material have been spotted, but rarely. There are 3 other known weapons made out of this material. The first is a tower shield and resides in the collections of Gaston Marcellus of Belcraft. It has a dragon relief carved into it and appears to have borne green paint at some point. The shield has been dated back to the period of the War of the Fangs. The second is a broadsword of Ithisian design which is held by the Warrior Mi Yan Zhe in the province of falling waters near Ao-Jun. The third is the spear of Sharum Nahar which was lost during the war of venture.
