Harpies are said to have come from a group of women who hunted garuda eggs to increase their beauty. They were the most skilled women known to the god elves, though some say they were human (mostly it is the elves that say this). They climbed the highest mountains known to exist and found the garuda away from it's nest. Cracking the shells of her young with their hammers they greedily ate the yolks based off of mystical scrolls that said the egg of the garuda granted beauty. Shortly after they had left they began to feel queassy and began to change. They took on the ugliest features imaginable and grew greasy feathers and claws. They were changed into the harpies we know of today.
