Drendamere Keep

Drendamere Keep was originally an outpost set up by Whytegaard during the Frontier Wars. Drendamere Keep was to be Whytegaard's northern arm. It was set close to the frontier and the mountains where orcs and other fell creatures were known to still reside. Though Maingth had fallen; the fell races and corrupted creatures still lingered about within the world and were in numerous numbers along the northern edge of the lands of man. The only factor which kept these creatures and races from beginning wars again were the fact that they were not organized or controlled by the dark hand of Maingth.

A group who worshipped the fell celestial Praxis, one of Maingth’s strongest and most loyal allies, was attempting to release the chains placed upon Praxis and propel him into the vacant seat of power. It was to prevent this that the fort at Drendamere Keep was established. To ensure that the Praxian Cultists would not be able to release Maingth, they transferred an altar block from the original temple of Taeos, one of the most holy artifacts known to all of the races, to Drendamere Keep. Whytegaard stationed its wisest general at Drendamere and with him his most loyal men. These defenders took so solemn an oath upon the altar block that they would never let it fall into the hands of evil. It is said they still remain at Drendamere today waiting to challenge any who would set foot within the hallowed walls.

Today the land around Drendamere keep is a cursed and foul place. It is rumored that the block no longer resides there as the Praxians mounted a large offense against the fort aided by the Orcs, Goblins, and Wargs. Foul magics destroyed the land and raised the dead around Drendamere, and it is near impossible to even approach the lands surrounding it. The offensive by the Praxians and the following onslaught of diseases have killed off most of those who settled around Drendamere. Now, the only offshoot city that remains in the frontier is the trading post of Rumi.
