Geography of Cyrus

Hey there, friend. You’re looking tired walking along the road, kicking that dust up all around you. Tell you what. I've got some spare room in the back. Just move some of them crates and get yourself a sitting spot. I’ll cart you down into Landfell, but I ain’t going no further than that. You’ll have to rely on your feet from there. How far did you say you were going? All the way across the ocean to Pero? You catching ship over at Paschal? I tell ya what. I’m not sure how much you got to spend getting there, but the only way to go is airship.

By boat it’ll take you say a month or so, especially with all the stops the trader ships make along the coast. Course you meet a whole slew of people that way. I once sold turnips to some Ogres when I was traveling by boat. Ogres mind you. Big doesn’t even begin to describe them. And their beer, whooo. Don’t even think of it, if you want to walk the next day. Airship though, that’ll speed you along like no ones business. I even heard a tale that some people have found floating rocks in the sky and have set up settlements there. Course, you know the way people talk. Yup, riding on one of those Airships sure would be fancy . . .

Cyrus resembles earth in shape and size, though it is a small amount smaller. Some points of interest are the lost floating continents, the Forest of Blue Trees, and Rune Lake. Two moons hang in Cyrus's sky, one blue moon that appears at twillight, and another red moon that rises shortly after sunset. Faint rings of debris can be seen in Cyrus as well. These rings are invisible during the day, and can only be seen in the night sky.

Ithis

The continent with the most activity of the Three Known Continents, Ithis is full of mountains, woods and fields. The northern part of Ithis is desolate and was once the home of the God Elves. The southern stretches of Ithis are beautiful and sylvan, having borne the least of the damage of the fall of Maingth. The western lands are home to greater expanses of woods, and to the east are prairies, farmlands, and the Ancestral homeland of the Icenglades. All of the recognized races of Cyrus can be found within the confines of the Ithisian Continent, and while Humans have developed many kingdoms in the center, these kingdoms are ringed by the lands of the Dwarves, Elves, Ogres, FeyChyldren, Icelanders, and the frontiers.

Pero

The continent of Pero is divided into two habitable regions, the green lands of the north and the Shimmering Desert in the south. T here are also two distinct regions on the eastern edge of the continent. These regions are quite uninhabitable, although fell creatures are reported to exist there along with elementals and other intimidating forces. These two areas are known as The Burning Lands and the Windswept Wastes. These two devastations were said to have been created when the floating continent of the Animalia crashed into Pero. Others say these lands were created in the backlash from the battle between Maingth and Elos. What is certain is that it is not possible to survive long within the Burning Lands, and no one wishes to survive for very long in the cold and empty Windswept Wastes.

Of the two habitable regions of Pero, the easiest region to make a living in is green lands of the north. This area contains 8 major city-states, each in control of their own areas and regions. Things are relatively peaceful in the northern lands for two major reasons. The first reason is that it is home home to the Stargazers, who inherited the power of the Starkindlers, and it is also home to the majority of Animalia who are great advocates of peace and discourse. The second reason is that the many fell creatures who exist on Ithis and within Clave have not migrated to the shores of Pero. Though Pero is plagued by monsters and troubles of its own, the armies of Maingth never came there during the God Wars and could not leave behind their foul progeny to inhabit the lands.

Clave

To the south of Ithis is Clave, a society formed along different lines. Here feudalism rules with mandates spreading form the Imperial city to the individual Daimyo, down to the people themselves. The lands have remained ancient in architecture and style, even as they have embraced the modern. Tradition rules within the land, but the major cities are diverse places, full of multitudes of races all united under the imperial banner. Between these major cities, deep in the forests and wilderness of clave, spring up multiple villages of small groups of people. Many of these village appear on provincial maps, or not at all.

Other Known Lands

The Islands of Cirro

To the east of Clave, Cirro lies like a green gem in the water. It is a chain of islands overridden with strange beasts and even stranger that house plants. Inhabiting the lands are many different races, all of whom reject civilization as it is know in the rest of Cyrus. They have their own way of life without the complex names and rules of the rest of the world. There are small outposts and pirate bases established on some islands, but, for the most part, Cirro remains a wild and untamed area.

Malacant

On the western edge of the world lies the large and unexplored area of Malacant. Reports from a journal of a stranded sailor say that it is full of plains, forests, giant chasms, and cliffs. Though information is scarce Malacant is said to be inhabited by some representatives of the recognized races. In the mountains further inland, there is said to be a more evolved civilization that lives along the cliffs and ride large birds and other winged mounts. Most of this is rumor and speculation, passed off as a child's fancy. The cliff walls of Malacant, and the great storms that rage along its coast have made the gathering of further information nigh on impossible. Though Airships have attempted to view the land, none have returned from their journies.
