During the Frontier Wars, the Westlands were of no real tactical importance and suffered attacks of a different kind. Orcs had infiltrated, but instead of attacking directly, they left massive numbers of war beasts. These war beasts made the forests a dark and dangerous place. Elven forces helped Paschal hunt down the beasts. The Elven rangers trained humans in Paschal as rangers. The human rangers of Paschal are hailed throughout the human lands as the best around, however they pale in comparison to their Elven teachers who hold the true title of Ranger. During the Andred-Crow War, the people of the Westlands were still trying to survive in the forests. They realized that there is nothing that could have been done to aid or stop the world and felt that it was better they rebuild than get involved in political maneuverings.
The Westlands have grown much since that time, incorporating many different philosophies but maintaining their aloofness. It is said that within the borders reside a special group of rangers. These rangers are said to be lycanthropes descended from those who fought in the War of the Fangs. They are also said to be tied to the Blue Forest in some way. Although never verified, there are strange occurrences within the forests of Paschal that lead some to rumor and hearsay above actual fact.
