Maingth in losing the joy of knowledge gained the sharpness of cunning. He no longer thought on what was but on what could be. He knew he could not directly strike at Taeos. His revenge would take another form. His revenge would slide like a snake back to the tree, pluck from it the greatest wisdoms he could find and give it to the gifted elves and he would teach them what he learned of anger and hate and desire. He would move low throughout the grass and conform himself to the situation, he would use the elves to bring pain to the creation and thus bring pain to Taeos.
Maingth walked amongst a group of the elves who were the most talented with magic. He taught them how to use this magic to bigger and stronger uses, he taught them how to use a single word to create and a single word to destroy. He taught them how to bring about life from the stones as Taeos did and he taught them how to give it breath and how to give it fire and how to give it strength and the elves created the minotaur. The elves saw themselves and knew pride, they had done what Taeos had done they were the equal of Taeos. They now used the name God Elves. Maingth saw this and was pleased. He taught them more and more and with their minotaur guards they were invincible. However the minotaur who were created with the first wisdom from the tree of life knew that there was something wrong. One day in unison they all set down their tools of labor, they stepped away from their guard posts, they removed themselves from building the high towers and grand buildings and walked far and wide across the world until one of them found another archai. To this archai Masamune they begged forgiveness. They asked him to help and he took their pleas to Taeos. Taeos looked down in pity and took them away from the domain of the god elves and kept them safe.
Maingth knew the disappearance of the minotaurs was trouble. He taught the God Elves more and showed them new and different wisdom. It was the wisdom of cunning that he had learned as a snake. He taught them that instead of doing the work themselves, get someone else to do it. They created this time the medusa who were also known as the gorgon. The medusa went off into the world and sought out the minotaur and wherever they went their gaze would turn anything they saw into stone. Whenever a medusa would find a minotaur they would turn him into stone as well but being made of the first wisdom uncorrupted they would always break free. The medusa, made of corrupted wisdom, were not strong enough. Maingth gave them the power and taught them how to corrupt the minotaur with the pleasures of the flesh. The medusa were able to corrupt the minotaur and create the gorgon. Taeos looked down in despair and cursed the medusa with ugliness and the minotaur who were their partners to be dark and evil and brooding and bear forever the mark of the broken horn.
Enslavement
The God Elves grew ambitious and seeking others to do their labor again they used their power to enslave the ogres who knew much of the world. The ogres fought and were almost victorious in securing their freedom, until Maingth called for the Anak. Giants they were from beyond the rings of Cyrus, they came from beyond and were Maingth’s secret weapons. Because of this the ogres were unable to defeat the God Elves and thus were the first of the races to be enslaved. The God Elves did not stop here they traveled across the land and year after year brought more of it under their control until all that they knew was theirs.
The dwarves were forced to build great and wondrous weapons for them. The ogres were forced to do their work and for their resistance were treated as little more than dogs. The fey were put to sleep and their offshoot the feychyldren were forced to make fools of themselves for the god elves. The animalia were able to retreat to the floating continents except for the wolf animalia who thought they could fight the god elves. Those that stayed to fight were taken and soon were lead about on the god elves chains, teeth bared at the other slaves. The addition of the converted wolf blooded allowed the god elves to capture the humans who were put to any task that their adaptive natures could handle. While being escorted by wolf blooded to mine clay from a mountain to the south one group of humans were able to escape. These humans were the best at working with the hard substance and were able to dig through the walls of clay and hide from their fanged and feared guards. In their diggings they came upon one of the tools of the Anak. A ship of some sort that bore technology far beyond that which any race of Cyrus had yet aspired. Luck was with the humans and the defenses of the ship did not destroy them but did destroy the guards that pursued them. From here were born the technological Aruna who trusted only in themselves and their new toys.
The elves who were not taught by Maingth were the only ones yet able to remain hidden from the God Elves. Some of these elves guarded magic gates that were doorways the archai used. Some of these elves continued moving to keep from the hands of the god elves and Maingth. Some of these elves were hiding with the centaurs who taught them to read the stars and here they found a means to bring about the defeat of Maingth. The centaur taught them to find patterns within the stars, how to group the stars together in symbols and read that which was written there in the secret languages. They taught them how to write the meaning of a persons name within the stars and tell what that persons destiny would be by the time they were born. When they rendered the name of Taeos within the symbols that they found within the stars they were lead to one bright star in particular. In this star they found an ally, the far off dying star called Jellaludin. Having been given spirit from the formless void it looked on them and offered it's help. It showed these star kindlers how to craft weapons of power and how to defeat Maingth with them. They still needed someone strong to wield the weapons though and found their champion within the ranks of the God Elves themselves.
