The War of Venture

There were those that were not happy though. Groups such as the inner circle sought the lost destructive forces of magic and the celestials, servants to the archai, still roamed about the world reminding people of what once was. Maingth, separated from his power still had agents within the world who sought to circumvent the natural way and ruin the creation. Sharim Nahar, a dragon elf, was one such agent. He knew of the safeguards that the star kindlers put into place to bring magic back should it be needed. He knew of the artifacts made from the knowledge of Jellaludin. The artifacts which contained elemental spirits given over by the Elemental kings and queens to the archai and which were borne aloft by the valkyrie with their shield maps riding steeds of wooden airships through the sky to hide the armor artifacts for another day. He drained magic from the feychyldren and turned them into slaves, he used arcane rituals and power granted by the celestials loyal to Maingth. He gathered and corrupted the armors using servants who could walk into the holy and protected shrines which repelled his corrupted essence. He baited, bribed, and captured unwilling subjects to gather the armors for him.

So close to his goal the threads of fate were woven against him. Two of this slaves, Lurris the green elf and Ronsha the bear blooded decided to don the armors, of fire and wind respectively, instead of bringing them out to their unwanted master. The spirits in the armors protected them and allowed them to escape. They traveled from the dwarven port of judarin through the blue forest full of strange spirits and ghosts. Besieged in the forest by armies of Orcs they sheltered inside the shrine of the black dog, a shrine to a celestial who saved humans fleeing from the god wars, and met an odd group. Three squires and a trainer from whytegard, the Feychylde Jyre and the Aruna scout Sanjuro. Jyre acquired the kyozin armor of water and upon escaping freed the scholar frederick from the Orcs who were using him to hunt the armors. They traveled to venture and on the train there met Corvis the thief who traveled with them. In venture Corvis acquired the two dagger armors of wood which fought the battle of good and evil within him. There frederick acquired a shield map of one of the valkyrie at the auction of a crashed airship and the heroes traveled on. In the woods traveling north to Rumi they met the ogre braknor who had already found a kyozin armor in the shape of a large hammer of earthy stone which he wielded effortlessly. In the town of Rumi they brought with them Ved the Icelander blacksmith who found the armor of steel and used it to lead them to clave where they found the sword Masamune, sharpest of all swords, with the help of the ex blade singer Heitaro.

In clave at the fighters tournament the heroes won and freed the simurgh, a magical bird, from captivity. It lead Jyre and Corvis to a magical pool where they refreshed their power and learned much of the true nature of the danger going on in the world and the plans of the master. The other heroes gathered fighters of all kinds and traveled to venture which had been overtaken by the army of Orcs along with many small villages and settlements in the forests and fields around. Gathering together the deep magics they had acquired and using the power that the armors granted them they raised a volcano in venture, re-animated siege suits with the ghosts of venture and mowed down the Orcs with an army of mercenary fighters of all kinds. Moving into the city they found the top of an excavated pyramid and traveled deep underground. Traversing for days through the underground caverns they came to the portal at the end of the inner world and transported themselves through a channel of light up to the floating continent. They looked down on venture one last time to see the full army of Orcs retaking venture and slaughtering those who had just started to move back to rebuild their homes. Upon the floating continent they chased the master through ice fields and floating islands, they fought off the undead servant and defeated giant flying beasts of odd design. They walked through monolithic ancient ruins and lit mountains on fire to pursue their goal. When at last they confronted the master they fought him with all the magic, steel and power they possessed. They defeated him after a long and exhausting battle but from his husk arose the heritage of his dragon elf blood and a beast of impossible power stood before them. In the split second between life and death when all felt the breath of finality on their necks Lurris with the power of Taeos behind him forced the magic draining chain they had forged from the ruins of a downed airship into the dragons mouth. Battered and beaten an inch beyond their normal lives they threw everything they had at the beast calling upon the power of the kyozin spirits to deal the final death blows to the beast. They healed with the water from the spring of life which the simurgh lead them to and stepped through the final gates. Into the alcoves of the tower they each placed their armors, into the statue vestibules their spirits went to sustain the pillars, and upon they central column they each touched the areas to reawaken the celestial spirit that would uncap the wellsprings of magical energy that had been held long ago by the archai. At the final moment the eighth person, the bearer of spirit was told to step into the column. A miscalculation had been made there was only one who bore the seal of spirit in his body, the rabbit frederick. Frederick who taught Sanjuro the final incantations that needed said, who placed his hand over Frederick’s on the pillar to feel the reverberation of the amputating slice. One armed frederick who walked into the pillar of light and sacrificed himself to bring magic back to the world. As the island crumbled and began to fall, Lurris used his skills as a summoner to pull frederick from the pillar and called forth a garuda to bear them aloft and away. Jyre and Corvis fell from the bird when it was hit by a falling rock, pulling out a wooden dagger Corvis used the jade ring spell to teleport them away but the out flux of magic from the great celestial and the wellsprings being uncapped threw them farther away in a different way then they expected.
