CounterSVG Core RuleBook & Cyrus Worldbook – SVG1001Page 70Minor Explanation - Many people misread the counter focus. Counter allows a character to make a defensive manuever and add +1R# per level of their weapon skill to their Defensive R#. The character then makes their attack for the round after blocking the incoming attack. The focus counter does not give an extra action, it changes the character's initiative order in the round for that round only. Clarification
Focuses With AttacksGeneralAllIf activating a focus (a complex action) that mentions an attack or that modifies an attack, it is assumed that the focus causes an attack as part of its activation. So, while an attack is a complex action, and activating a focus is a complex action, activating Armor Break is assumed to cause an attack as part of its activation. SVG Staff
