Pirates!!!!

Ship picture modified from photo at www.pdphoto.org

In the years after the Clavian Imperial war, there was much distress within the world. Though nothing major was threatening the world balance, or the newly emerging Empire of Clave, there was a new age of travel that was emerging between the opened land, and the other countries. Ithis, Pero, and Clave were learning from each other and forming new ties.

Troubles will always rise, and arise they did. Pirating on the open seas exploded in scope, and scale. What were once small bands of raiders, were now well organized groups of fierce predators. They looked to take advantage of the dirge or wealth, gifts, and powerful people travelling from their home lands through the water to new shores. The dangers of the sea came not from the monstrous beasts, horrible evils, or fell celestials, but from the lust for wealth.

People did not sit back blindly, nor timidly accept the torment of the pirates. Armadas were formed by sea bordering countries. Privateers took to hunting down any ship engaged in piracy, and collecting the bounties on their heads. Ships Captains armed trading ships, and refused to let go of their cargo.

The pirates did not relent though, for as their prey became armed, they increased their strength manifold. The seas were awash with booty, and blood. The Age of Pirating was born!
