So you're the young punk . . .

So you're the young punk they want me to show around. Scrawny thing, aren't ya? Alright, let me give you the low down. This is the explorers guild, but you know that because you already got accepted as a member. We're not like other guilds you may have heard about. We do jobs that don't quite fit into other sections of society, certainly not polite society. Say some archaeologist needs someone to clear out any nasties inside of the ruins at Thamalgark. You get to be monster fodder. Now we just don't do combat stuff. We also collect information on the world and try to get a lot of that out to the people. Why? The founders dream, some hogwash about uniting the people, fostering unity, preserving natural order.

All right, first lets get you familiar with the world. Start reading this. It's full of information that the Rabbit wrote about Cyrus. You don't even know the Rabbit? Get reading. Start with the Geography or the Races sections. It's good to know where you're going and who you'll meet. Knowing that the way you wave may mean something obscene to an ogre can save your life. TRUST ME ON THAT ONE.

Then there's a smattering of info about the different Organizations and big players in the world as well. It's important to know that when you come up against someone wearing armor and a seal of some sort on a tabbard, you know they aren't the bandits you were hired to exterminate. Don't want to piss off any royal guards or Whytegaard paladins.

Once you get done reading that book, come see me and I'll tell you some more interesting stuff. All bout the History Of Cyrus. Yeah, yeah, you've heard it all before from the priests and you may not believe it, but trust me, it's important. Dwarves are said to be immortal because we were made from stone. Stone doesn't age; it's strong and tough. You ever seen a skinny dwarf? A fat dwarf, maybe, but never a skinny one. Legend may be true, may not be true, but knowing the roots of a thing helps you deal with the branches of it. I'll cut the history up into little digestible bits. So get reading and then we'll start on beating you up after that...I mean, combat training.
